More than 800,000 without power after Hurricane Isaias makes landfall in Florida

BBC update

HURRICANE Isaias leaves hundreds of thousands of people without power in Alabama, Georgia and Florida, with all three states declaring emergencies.

Flooding is a continuing risk, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis says as he warns of a "very hazardous situation".

Winds peaked at 120mph (193km/h) before Isaias made landfall in Florida late on Friday - images show houses battered by winds and felled trees.

Two people are dead after trees fell on houses in Florida and Alabama amid strong wind and heavy rain, officials say.

Isaias peaked as a category three hurricane, bringing heavy rain and powerful wind, but has since been downgraded.

In addition to Isaias, Tropical Storm Rachel is expected to hit southern California later on Saturday, and Hurricane Simon will hit the Pacific coast of Mexico on Sunday.
