Missing Malayali nurse in Saudi police custody
PHILOMINA, a 32-year-old nurse from Wayanad working in Riyadh, is in Saudi police custody in Jeddah after authorities found prohibited medicines in her luggage.
Philomina travelled from Bengaluru to Riyadh via Jeddah on October 10, 2026, after completing an annual leave in Kerala.
Family members lost contact after she sent a message from Jeddah airport stating that officials had detained her and taken her phone and passport.
The Indian Consulate in Jeddah and local authorities confirmed that she was taken into police custody due to the presence of restricted or banned pharmaceutical substances in her baggage.
She has been working as a staff nurse at King Fahad Hospital in Riyadh for the past three years.
