Gala festivals mark US 250th anniversary celebrations

THE United States of America is marking its 250th anniversary on July 4, commemorating the nation's founding on July 4, 1776.

Independence Day celebrations will be held across the country, beginning with the President's address at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., attended by large public gatherings.

Cities, towns and states throughout the U.S. will host parades, community events, concerts and patriotic ceremonies, with the day's festivities traditionally culminating in spectacular fireworks displays.

Among those celebrating the historic milestone is Andrew Pappachen, Chief Editor of World Malayalee Voice and a well-known community leader in the United States.

He will be hosting an outdoor celebration with his neighbours, friends and family to mark the nation's 250th anniversary.
