Third female teacher arrested in Vadakara MDMA case; probe expands
THE investigation into the sensational MDMA drug trafficking case in Vadakara has widened with the arrest of a third female teacher, intensifying concerns over the alleged involvement of educators in a narcotics distribution network.
Police identified the latest accused as Neeshma, a special educator attached to the Perambra Block Resource Centre (BRC).
Investigators allege that her bank account was used for financial transactions linked to the drug racket, and they are examining her role in the wider network.

The case first came to light following the arrest of two other teachers, Keerthana and Kavya, who were allegedly involved in facilitating MDMA transactions. According to investigators, the accused are suspected of acting as intermediaries in the supply chain, with police probing digital evidence, bank records and financial dealings to identify additional links.
Authorities believe more individuals may have been involved and have constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to expand the probe. Officials are also examining whether the accused had connections with larger interstate drug trafficking networks.
The arrests have sent shockwaves through Kerala's education sector, particularly as the state continues to strengthen its anti-drug campaign under Operation Toofan.
Education authorities have already initiated disciplinary action against the teachers previously arrested, while the police maintain that the investigation is far from over.
