Kannur emerges champions in school arts festival

KANNUR has won the 64th Kerala School Kalolsavam (State School Arts Festival) for 2026, reclaiming the gold cup from defending champions Thrissur, with a narrow five-point lead in a closely contested competition.

The five-day cultural festival, held in Thrissur, concluded with Kannur securing first place with 1028 points, Thrissur second (1023 points), Kozhikode third (1017), and Palakkad fourth (1013). 

The competition was extremely tight, with only a few points separating the top districts.

The event concluded with Opposition Leader V.D. Satheesan inaugurating the closing ceremony, with Mohanlal as the chief guest. 

This win marks Kannur's successful return to the top spot in the state's largest youth cultural festival, solidifying their passion for arts.

BSS Gurukulam Higher Secondary School, Alathur, Palakkad,  led the school rankings, while Kozhikode and Palakkad also finished in the top four districts.
