Smriti Mandhana confirms wedding with Palash Mucchal called off, requests privacy for both families

INDIAN cricketer Smriti Mandhana has issued a public statement ending weeks of speculation about her personal life, confirming that her wedding with music composer/filmmaker Palash Muchhal has been called off.

The clarification was shared through an Instagram story on Sunday, marking her first response to ongoing rumours.

“Over the past few weeks, there has been plenty of speculation around my life, and I feel it is important for me to speak out at this time. I am a very private person, and I would like to keep it that way, but I need to clarify that the wedding is called off,” said Mandhana.

Mandhana urged fans and the media to allow the families the space to move on. “I would like to close this matter here and implore all of you to do the same. I request you to please respect the privacy of both families at this time and allow us the space to process and move on at our own pace.”

She also underlined her commitment to her cricketing career, saying her focus remains unchanged. “I believe there is a higher purpose driving us all, and for me, that has always been representing my country at the highest level. I hope to continue to play and win trophies for India for as long as possible, and that is where my focus will forever be.”

Mandhana ended the message thanking her supporters. “Thank you for all your support. It’s time to move forward.”

The ceremony was originally scheduled for 23 November 2025 in Sangli, Maharashtra. But on the morning of the wedding day, Mandhana’s father, Srinivas Mandhana, suffered severe chest pain and was rushed to the hospital; doctors found elevated cardiac enzymes and he was placed under observation.

Shortly afterwards, Palash Muchhal also required medical care and was hospitalised, which prompted families to call off the ceremony. Given the unexpected health crisis, the wedding was postponed indefinitely. Mandhana’s manager at the time said that the focus should be on her father’s recovery before contemplating any new date.
