Playback singer Chitra Iyer's sister, Sharada Iyer (52), dies in Muscat trekking accident

PLAYBACK singer Chitra Iyer's sister, Sharada Iyer (52), died in a trekking accident in Muscat, Oman, on January 3, 2026. 

Sharada Iyer, a former manager at Oman Air, was on a trekking trip in the Muscat hills when an unexpected fall or accident occurred, leading to her death.

Chitra Iyer confirmed the news of her sister's passing on social media. 

This tragedy closely followed the death of their father, Dr. R. D. Iyer, who passed away on December 11, 2025.

Sharada had visited India for his funeral and returned to Muscat on December 24, 2025. 

Her body is currently at a government hospital in Muscat, and details regarding the funeral arrangements are pending.

She is survived by her son, who lives in Australia.
