Delhi fog: Air India, IndiGo warn of flight delays
AIR India and IndiGo, on Monday, issued travel advisories warning passengers of possible flight delays as dense fog and poor visibility disrupted operations in Delhi and parts of North India.
“Poor visibility due to dense fog is impacting flight operations in Delhi and parts of Northern India. Please check your flight status before heading to the airport,” Air India said in an advisory.
IndiGo also cautioned passengers about potential schedule disruptions, saying, “Low visibility and fog over Delhi will impact flight schedules. We’re keeping a close watch on the weather and doing our best to get you where you need to be, safely and smoothly.” The airline urged travellers to stay updated through its website or app and assured passengers of on-ground assistance.

The advisories came as Delhi-NCR woke up to dense fog on Monday, with visibility dropping sharply across several areas, causing difficulties for early-morning commuters. Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport also warned that flight operations may be affected and advised passengers to check real-time updates with their respective airlines.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for fog in the national capital and advised people to remain cautious. According to IMD data, the minimum temperature in Delhi fell to 8.2°C on Monday night.
Meanwhile, air quality in the capital worsened significantly, entering the ‘Severe Plus’ category. The Air Quality Index (AQI) crossed 450, with Ashok Vihar recording a peak AQI of 500 in the early hours of Monday.
