Oman's Food Quality Centre warns against contaminated bottled water brands

OMAN'S Food Safety and Quality Centre has issued a public warning advising consumers to avoid two bottled water brands, Seven Rivers and Mountain Drops.
According to the Centre, laboratory tests detected Pseudomonas aeruginosa in both products, a bacterium that poses health risks if consumed.
The affected Seven Rivers batch includes 500 ml bottles produced on May 21, 2025, with an expiry date of May 21, 2026. The product originates from the United Arab Emirates.
Similarly, the Mountain Drops brand was also flagged, with contamination detected in 250 ml bottles from two separate batches: one produced on July 7, 2025 (expiry July 6, 2026, batch no. 6291105240727), and another produced on June 13, 2025 (expiry June 12, 2026, batch no. 2071473968911).
While generally safe for healthy people, Pseudomonas aeruginosa can pose health risks, especially to individuals with skin injuries or pre-existing health conditions.
Do not purchase or consume these two brands of bottled water.
Check the production and expiry dates on other bottled water products to ensure they are not from the affected batches.
