Kerala ADGP dies 3 days before retirement

ADDITIONAL Director General of Police Mahipal Yadav, a 1997 Kerala-cadre IPS officer, died on Wednesday, just days before he was scheduled to retire from service on August 30, and hours before the Kerala police was slated to accord an official farewell function for him online.
Yadav died in Jaipur, Rajasthan, where his family had taken him for treatment after his health deteriorated recently.
A recipient of the President’s Police Medal for meritorious service, Yadav served as the Kerala excise commissioner and was recently appointed ADGP, Crimes, before going on medical leave.
A native of Alwar in Rajasthan, Yadav worked with the BSF and CBI on deputation. During his stint at the CBI, he headed the probe into the VVIP AgustaWestland helicopter scam and Mulayam Singh Yadav’s assets inquiry case.
In 2018, he served as the inspector general of BSF Punjab Frontier in Jalandhar. On returning to the parent cadre in 2023, he was made the excise commissioner.
In Kerala, Yadad served as the Kochi city police commissioner, IG internal security, and IG Thiruvananthapuram range.
