Workshops on film scripting, making and acting
THERE are many cinema enthusiasts living outside India who have set aside their creative dreams to focus on the demands of their professional lives.
Due to their busy schedules, these aspiring filmmakers and actors often miss out on the opportunity to learn the fundamental principles of cinema.
For our expatriate friends, my initiative, *Visual Sarkeet*, is organising specialised workshops in film scripting, making, and acting. I invite Malayali friends living abroad who are interested in these workshops to get in touch.
Scripting
This workshop covers the journey of a film from the initial seed of an idea to a fully developed story. We explore how a concept evolves into a scene order and eventually a shooting script. Using examples from classic screenplays and visuals, the session explains the essential elements to keep in mind while writing for the screen.
Making
The filmmaking session provides a simple yet detailed walkthrough of the entire process—from finding a story and pre-production to the filming stage (production), post-production, censoring, release, promotion, and marketing. Using practical classes with references to past films and their construction techniques, we explain the vital responsibilities and must-know facts for a debut filmmaker.
Acting
It is said that nearly 90% of people harbour a desire to act, but a lack of confidence is often their biggest hurdle. This requires foundational training. Many face dilemmas regarding body language or have doubts about dialogue modulation and voice clarity. In acting, everything from your eyebrows to your fingertips matters.
Through this training, you will understand how a filmmaker approaches a performer for a role and what precautions an actor should take. I will personally lead these friendly and simplified sessions, focusing on body language, vocal control, and addressing basic doubts to significantly boost an actor’s confidence level.
