US and Iran sign hard copy of agreement
PRESIDENT Donald Trump signed a copy of the US-Iran agreement at the Palace of Versailles in France, concluding his G7 trip. The US then sent a photo of the signed agreement to the Iranians, a US official said. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian then signed the document.
The agreement commits the US and Iran to achieving a final deal within 60 days. It also states that the US will issue waivers, allowing Iran to export oil, and outlines provisions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz. It also commits the US and regional partners to developing a $300 billion reconstruction fund for Iran.
The agreement ends the war on all fronts, including in Lebanon, where Israel has continued to carry out strikes. Trump said the US sent Israel a copy of the agreement, and again criticised Israel’s military actions against Hezbollah, saying, "They could do better.”
