The seller must learn the buyer’s language

WHEN I visited Delhi with my family for the first time, we went to the market to do some shopping and entered some of the shops. As we could not bargain in Hindi, we purchased some items at the marked price.

It was then that I got a phone call from one of my friends working in Delhi for many years. When he was told that we are in the market for shopping he said: "You need not speak in Hindi, speak in Malayalam only. They are there to sell their items. They must learn our language."

In the next shop, we spoke in Malayalam. Not knowing Malayalam, the shopkeeper stared at us and we moved towards the next shop.

Suddenly, someone called us back speaking in chaste Malayalam asking: "What do you want, Sir?" The shopkeeper had called a Malayalee to his shop within no time. We did the shopping after bargaining with that man.

The seller is inclined to learn the language of the buyer to promote his business.

The street vendors in Kovalam can speak Japanese, Chinese, French, German, etc because they can increase the sale of their goods to foreigners by communicating with them in their languages. The language required for their livelihood all will learn quickly.
