Om Prakash Mathur appointed Keralam Governor
PRESIDENT Droupadi Murmu has appointed Om Prakash Mathur, the incumbent Governor of Sikkim, as the new Governor of Keralam, replacing Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, as part of a major reshuffle of Governors across six states.
Arlekar has been appointed Governor of Tamil Nadu, according to a communiqué issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday.
In other appointments, Dushyant Gautam has been named Governor of Sikkim, Braj Mohan Ram Governor of Odisha, Sudha Yadav Governor of Karnataka, and Dhal Singh Bisen Governor of Uttarakhand.
The appointments will take effect from the dates on which the respective appointees assume charge of their new offices.
Mathur, a veteran BJP leader and former Rajya Sabha member from Rajasthan, assumed office as Governor of Sikkim in July 2024.
The reshuffle marks a change in the gubernatorial leadership of Keralam, with Mathur succeeding Arlekar, who became the state's Governor in January 2025.
