Cochin Haneefa's family gets a new home

SIXTEEN years after the untimely demise of beloved Malayalam actor Cochin Haneefa, his family's long wait for a home of their own has finally come to an end.

Haneefa's wife, Faseela, and their twin daughters, Safa and Marwa, have moved into a newly built three-storey house named "Cochin Haneefa's AB Manzil" at Vennala in Kochi, fulfilling one of the late actor's cherished dreams. The house has been named after Haneefa's father, Abi Muhammad, as he had always wished.

Following Haneefa's death in 2010, the family spent 16 years living in a rented house in Kadavanthra while legal issues delayed access to the actor's assets. After the legal hurdles were resolved, the family completed the house using Haneefa's own savings, without seeking financial assistance.

Speaking to the media, Faseela said the family had honoured Haneefa's self-respect by never seeking help from others and patiently waited until they could build the home as he had envisioned.

The couple's daughters, who were only four years old when their father passed away, designed the interiors of the five-bedroom residence, which is adorned with photographs and memories of the popular actor.

Actor Dileep attended the housewarming ceremony. Faseela also acknowledged his quiet support over the years, noting that he helped provide the family with a steady income by using Haneefa's Innova vehicle on film sets for many years.
