UAE braces for scorching temperatures as mercury soars to 49°C

THE National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a high-temperature alert as the country faces extreme heat today, with inland areas expected to sizzle between 44°C and 49°C.
Coastal regions and islands will see temperatures ranging from 37°C to 42°C, while mountainous areas remain relatively cooler, hovering between 32°C and 38°C.
Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy at times, with low clouds forming over the eastern coastline. Conditions are expected to become increasingly humid by night and into Monday morning, particularly in coastal areas.
Winds will be light to moderate, occasionally freshening from the southwest to northwest at speeds of 10–20 km/h, gusting up to 35 km/h. Maritime conditions remain calm, with slight seas expected in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
Authorities advise residents to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak heat hours, and monitor official updates throughout the day.
