The reduction in the price of petrol and diesel comes ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the reduction in the prices of petrol and diesel and said the fuel rates in India are much less compared to other countries.

He compared the fuel prices in India to the rates in Italy, France, Germany and Spain, where the amounts were 50 to 79 per cent more.
