Kochi doctor booked for sexual assault a day after 2 actors arrested in robbery case
A 41-year-old doctor, Dr Johnson K Varghese, has been booked for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman after giving her intoxicants, a day after three people, including two actors, were arrested for allegedly assaulting and robbing him in Kochi.
The Infopark police registered a case on Friday, November 6, following a complaint by a relative of one of the three people arrested in connection with the doctor's complaint. Police said the complaint alleged that the doctor sexually assaulted the woman after administering intoxicants. An investigation is underway to verify the allegations.
The alleged incident took place between 6.30 pm and 10.30 pm on November 2. The stolen valuables were estimated to be worth Rs 3.25 lakh and had not been recovered at the time of reporting.

The development comes a day after Kadavanthra Police arrested two actors, Athulya Chandra and Bibin Perumpally and another person, K B Vishnu, for allegedly assaulting the doctor and taking away valuables worth around Rs 3.25 lakh. The arrests were made following his complaint about an incident at an apartment in Ponnurunni, Vyttila.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that a 41-year-old doctor was allegedly assaulted and robbed of valuables worth Rs 3.25 lakh after being lured to an apartment in Kochi on the pretext of providing emergency medical assistance. Kadavanthra Police have arrested two film actors in connection with the incident.
The doctor alleged in his complaint that one of the accused, a female actor, told him that a relative of one of the accused was seriously ill and required urgent medical attention. He was asked to reach an apartment complex in Ponnurunni, Vyttila, TOI reported.
However, after he reached the premises, the group allegedly accused him of giving intoxicants to the woman and sexually assaulting her. The doctor claimed that around 12 people attacked and threatened him before taking away his belongings, including two mobile phones and a smartwatch.
The three accused were produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody. Police are now investigating the complaints against both the doctor and the arrested individuals.
