Two women freed by Hamas as more hostage releases expected

BBC update:

TWO more hostages have been freed by Hamas - French-Israeli Mia Schem, who was kidnapped from the Supernova music festival, and lawyer Amit Soussana.

Israel says more hostages are expected to be released later in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, as the temporary ceasefire continues for a seventh day.

Talks are continuing about extending the truce - with Egypt saying it was working with Qatar to get a further two-day extension.

Top US diplomat Antony Blinken is in the Middle East and earlier told Israeli leaders they must ensure civilians in Gaza are protected, before restarting any military operation there.

In Jerusalem, three people were killed by two gunmen at a bus stop during Thursday morning rush hour. Hamas said the attackers - who were shot dead by police - were its members.

It comes a day after two Palestinian boys, 8 and 14, were shot and killed during an Israeli army raid in the West Bank city of Jenin.

The Hamas attacks on Israel on 7 October killed 1,200 people with around 240 others taken hostage.
Since then, Gaza's Hamas-run health ministry says more than 14,800 people have been killed in Israel's retaliatory campaign, including about 6,000 children
