Kerala to launch ‘Jana Sparsham’ drive to clear pending files
THE Kerala government will launch a special file-clearance drive, ‘Jana Sparsham’, from October 15 to December 31 to dispose of pending files across government departments.
Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan announced the initiative on October 9, saying more than 2.76 lakh e-files were pending across departments.
The drive will cover both electronic and physical files, with the government aiming to clear the backlog within the stipulated period.
The initiative will also examine the reasons for delays and introduce measures to prevent files from remaining pending for extended periods. The Chief Minister attributed much of the backlog to a lack of coordination between departments.
A live reporting system will provide updates on the disposal of files.
Emphasising the importance of timely administrative action, Satheesan said, “Each file represents a life.”
The government has also announced plans to develop a public portal, with the assistance of Digital University Kerala, to enable citizens and the media to monitor the progress of development projects and assess their benefits.
The initiative is part of the government's broader effort to improve administrative efficiency, transparency and accountability.
