Kerala Police personnel honoured with Independence Day medals

AS part of the 80th Independence Day celebrations, several personnel from Kerala Police have been selected for prestigious police service medals in recognition of their distinguished and meritorious service.

According to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, one Kerala Police officer has been awarded the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM), while six personnel have been selected for the Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM).

Sasidharan Sankaran Ezhuthachan Kizhakkekara, Superintendent of Police, Kerala, is the recipient of the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service.

The six Kerala Police personnel selected for the Medal for Meritorious Service are also being recognised for their sustained dedication and valuable service.

In addition, two Kerala Fire Service personnel have been selected for the Medal for Meritorious Service, while two personnel from the state’s correctional services have received the same honour.

Across the country, a total of 1,057 personnel from the Police, Fire Services, Home Guard and Civil Defence, and Correctional Services have been selected for Gallantry and Service Medals this Independence Day. The honours include 301 Gallantry Medals, 92 President’s Medals for Distinguished Service and 664 Medals for Meritorious Service.

The awards recognise exceptional courage, distinguished service and sustained devotion to duty, and are announced on the occasion of Independence Day each year.
