Man confesses to burying two newborns, police initiate probe

A 26-year-old man in Kerala’s Thrissur surrendered to the Pudukkad police on Sunday, June 29, stating that he had buried two newborns he had with his female friend in 2021 and 2024. The man, identified as Bhavin, a native of Amballur in Thrissur, also produced items that he claimed were the bones of the infants. Following this, the Pudukkad police took him into custody along with his 22-year-old female friend, Aneesha. Speaking to the media, B Krishnakumar, Thrissur Rural Superintendent of Police (SP), said that the police have confirmed the deaths of the two male infants. “Bhavin came to the police station in the early hours of Sunday. He claimed that he had a relationship with a woman and had two children with her. He submitted a bag to the police officers and said, 'These are the bones of the newborns.' Immediately, the police began the verification process,” the SP said.According to the SP, Bhavin and Aneesha became acquainted through Facebook. They had their first baby in 2021 and the second in 2024. The woman told the police that both babies had died before birth. “With the primary evidence we collected, we were able to confirm that the second baby’s death was not a natural one,” the SP said.Police also told the media that Bhavin had kept the bones to establish their relationship in case the woman separated from him in the future.The police have formed a Special Investigation Team and initiated a detailed inquiry. The bone samples were sent to the Thrissur Medical College Hospital for examination. “We need to confirm the reason behind the babies' deaths, and need to conduct a DNA test. We got some details about the place where they buried the newborns, but further investigation is needed to confirm it,” SP said. This is a developing story.
