THE police in Kannur have lodged a case against a groom and his 25 companions for causing traffic obstruction by riding a camel during the wedding procession.

The police filed a case on charges of unlawfully gathering as a group, causing disturbance to the public and obstructing traffic.

Rizwan, the groom, is a native of Valapattanam in Kannur. The incident took place on January 14 as he led a wedding procession to the bride's home riding a camel.

According to a complaint filed with the police, the wedding procession resulted in traffic congestion as several vehicles, including ambulances, were stuck in the jam.

The complaint also mentioned the use of smoke guns in the procession, which blocked the site of fellow passengers.

The locals informed the police when an ambulance got stuck due to the jam.
