Actor Gautami quits BJP after 25 years

ACTOR Gautami Tadimalla has quit the BJP, her party of 25 years, alleging "lack of support" and collusion by some members with a person who swindled her.

Sharing her resignation letter on X, Gautami said that she stood at an "unimaginable crisis point" in her life as she announced her decision to quit the party with a "very heavy heart and deep disillusionment".

The actor alleged that a person, C Alagappan, had befriended her 20 years ago seeing her "vulnerability and isolation", "as I was not only an orphan who had just lost both my parents, but also a single mother with an infant child". Gautami said she had entrusted him with managing her properties.

"I entrusted him with the sale of my lands and it was just recently that I discovered he had defrauded me of the same. All while pretending to welcome me and my daughter as a part of his family," she said in the letter.

She then alleged that while a legal proceeding was on, she was "shattered to realise" a complete lack of support from the party, adding that certain senior members were helping Alagappan.

"It is shattering to realise that there is a complete lack of support and moreover, that several senior members of the BJP have been enabling Alagappan to dodge justice and abscond since the last 40 days even after FIRs have been filed," alleged Gautami.

She stated that she still hoped that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, the police department and the judicial system would help get her justice.

Gautami claimed that she resigned from the BJP in great pain and sorrow but with firm resolve, as she is fighting for justice for herself and her daughter’s future as a lone woman and single parent.
