Trump warns of more strikes on Iran as Middle East troop deployments extend into next year

PRESIDENT Donald Trump announced that the United States is prepared to launch another strike against Iran at “any time,” following a sharp escalation and exchange of fire between U.S. forces and Tehran.

The clash marks the largest direct military engagement between the two nations since July, fueling renewed international concern over a wider confrontation in the region.

According to Trump, American forces delivered a heavy blow to Iranian installations before Tehran launched a wave of retaliatory fire.

“It was a very heavy attack last night, and we’re prepared to do another one anytime we want,” Trump said, adding that U.S. forces hit Iranian positions “very hard”. He downplayed Iran’s subsequent response, describing it as a “love tap” after American defence systems intercepted incoming fire.

The latest round of strikes targeted Iranian radar installations and newly constructed military equipment along the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a critical waterway for global energy shipments. While Trump noted that any continued campaign would not last “too long,” both sides remain on high alert.

In Washington, the Pentagon has moved to adjust its regional posture. Under Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, defence officials are extending U.S. troop deployment schedules in the Middle East into next year.

Military planners say the extended presence is intended to maintain strategic flexibility, safeguard maritime routes, and protect American assets across the region.
