Attention flyers! SpiceJet issues travel advisory as heavy rains affect Mumbai flight operations

SpiceJet issued a travel advisory for its passengers on Friday, 15 August 2025, as heavy rains lashed the city of Mumbai, hampering flight operations.  

India's weather agency, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) data, showed that Mumbai has been experiencing ‘heavy rainfall’ as the temperature ranges between 29 and 25 degrees.

The data also shows that the city has experienced a total of 011.0 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours. “Generally cloudy sky with Heavy rain,” according to the IMD website.

As per IMD's forecast, weather conditions are likely to stay rainy in the next few days up to Tuesday, 19 August 2025. However, according to the IMD data collected on Friday, 15 August 2025, there is no warning of heavy rainfall from Wednesday, 20 August 2025. 

SpiceJet travel advisory 

Indian low-cost airline operator, SpiceJet, on Friday issued a travel advisory for its passengers, highlighting that all departures and arrivals of the flights to and from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai are likely to be affected due to bad weather caused due to the heavy rainfall. 

The airline also requested its customers to check their flight status before heading out to the airport for any last minute changes in the flight operations. 

“#WeatherUpdate: Due to bad weather (heavy rain) in Mumbai (BOM), all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights may get affected. Passengers are requested to keep a check on their flight status,” said SpiceJet in its post on the social media platform X.
