THE United States of America is the wealthiest country with its vast area with great resources and a successful democratic capitalist system of government for the past 249 years and is celebrating its 250th anniversary in 2026. Why is the United States of America so wealthy compared to other countries, and how much wealth does it have compared to other countries?

Let us first compare the annual budget figures of rich and poor countries in dollars.

USA – $6.8 Trillion or $6800 Billion

China - $4.5 Trillion or $4500 Billion

Japan - $2.2 Trillion or $2200 Billion

Germany - $2.1 Trillion or $2100 Billion

France - $1.6 Trillion or $1600 Billion

United Kingdom – $1.4 Trillion or 1400 Billion

Italy - $1.1 Trillion or $1100 Billion

Brazil – 1.0 Trillion or $1000 Billion

US population is 320 million, China, 1411 million, India 1338 million, Japan 124.5 million, Germany 83.2 million, France 68.2 million, Britain 68.3 million and Brazil 211.2 million. Texas State in USA has 31.2 million, while California State has 39.4 million, New York City 8.3 million and Chicago has 2.65 million.

You can get more numbers from Google and compare the wealth and population and figure out the per capita wealth in each country, states in the  USA and cities. It is not difficult to conclude how wealthy is USA, its States and Cities compared to the whole world.

There are 2668 billionaires in the world, out of which 735 or 27.5% are Americans and their collective worth is $4700 billion or 37% of the total worth of global billionaires. Median income of Americans is about $72.500 or almost Rs 6 lakhs per year. Median income of Indians, including Malayalees, in the US is about $152,000 or Rs. 13 lakhs per year. Americans make up 31% of global net worth.

Meanwhile, 53.2 % of the world’s adults own less than $10,000 Rs. 840000 in wealth.

Why is America so rich compared to all nations and people in the world? The main reason is the sustained rate of real GDP (Gross National Product) growth in the United States. America has been a democratic nation for the last 249 years and it has developed an entrepreneurial culture and a financial system that supports entrepreneurial activities.

America has large farming areas with highly efficient harvests, managed as a big profit- making industry. America invests in world-class research universities. Labor unions link workers' agreements with productivity and efficiency.

Encourages hard work and long hours to make more income and enjoy a better life. America is the “land of opportunities”. If you can work hard and willing to do any work, you can have a comfortable life.
