Man held for stabbing wife to death, attacking her parents

The Kerala police, on Wednesday, March 19 arrested  25-year-old Yasir, who allegedly stabbed his wife, Shibila (23) to death at Engapuzha in Kozhikode on Tuesday, March 18 over marital dispute. The deceased reportedly sought to end her relationship alleging domestic violence under the influence of drugs.Yasir was taken into custody from the Kozhikode Medical College premises. He stabbed Shibila multiple times leading to her death. He also attacked her father P Abdurahiman and mother Haseena who tried to intervene. They both sustained grave injuries.At the time of his arrest, Yasir was in his car parked by the roadside only a few metres away from the hospital’s casualty ward, where his wife Shibila was declared dead and her parents were undergoing treatment. With the help of the residents who confirmed his identity, the Kozhikode Medical College police detained him. He was subsequently handed over to the Thamarassery Police as the crime took place under their jurisdiction. According to reports, Yasir is a synthetic drug addict. Due to this and his alleged anti-social behaviours, Shibila wanted to part ways. Reportedly, they were living separately for more than four months.“Yasir had attacked her many times before; he became sadistic when he was intoxicated, Shibila tried to endure a lot of suffering, but even after informing the police, there was no significant result,” said Abdul Majeed, a relative of the deceased. Meanwhile, police said that Yasir committed the crime in a sober state. Further investigation is underway.
