The new US President

DONALD Trump, who was US President from 2017 till 2021, was reelected for a second term in November 2025 after he was defeated in 2021. Donal Trump also tried unsuccessfully to stay in power by saying the 2021 election was fraud. Later Trump was convicted in New York State for financial fraud and also a lady who claimed Trump sexually attacked her got the decision in favor of her.
US House of Representatives with a Democratic majority impeached Trump twice while he was president the first time. The US Attorney General under President Biden charged him with criminal charges of insurrection. With all those charges against him, Americans reelected Trump as the President because they were not satisfied with President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris who ran against him as the Democratic candidate. Trump easily won the Republican Primary. Trump’s second victory was phenomenal which gave him the mandate to do everything he said he would do if elected.
Trump is a billionaire businessman, mainly commercial & residential real estate, hotels and golf clubs all over the world. He was born rich and inherited about $400 million from his father at the age of 22 when he started his own business. He was never a politician until he ran for US President in 2016.
He married three times, with three children in the first marriage and one child each in the second and third marriages. He keeps a good relationship with his children. His first two sons and daughter, who are all married, work in his business as top executives. His first daughter and husband have their own real estate business and they are also multimillionaires. His second daughter in the second marriage married a millionaire’s son. His son in the third marriage just entered college. His third wife Melania was a model. Trump is wealthy with his own Boeing 747 plane and other smaller planes and all other luxuries of life. He had also declared business bankruptcy when his casinos were in big losses in the 1990s.
Trump now controls the US Republican Party under a banner, Make America Great Again or MAGA. The MAGA Republicans are very conservative, mostly believe in white supremacy and believe in strong capitalism, which is survival of the fittest, which means nobody should be given special preference.
MAGA Republicans are most against immigration, especially uneducated immigrants and they want all illegal immigrants from the country to be thrown out and tighter US borders. They are against gun control; they are against a deficit budget and for tax cuts. They are also against US financial support to other countries and a strong US defence.
I have now given you the background of Trump and the views of him and his supporters. Trump also is very bold and not afraid to make controversial and sometimes unlawful decisions. If he is challenged, he is ready to fight in court. He often changes his views or lie about it. He wants everybody who works for him to be 100 per cent loyal. He is outspoken and attacks people who do not support him or talk against his policies. He is not afraid to attack the Republican Party representatives if they talk against his policies.
The new US President is a very unique individual and he is in his second term, means final term. With such unique personality, circumstances and support from the party, Trump will be making unique decisions and promoting unique policies. Therefore, the four years of Trump’s second tenure will be unique.
Trump has already started implementing controversial and sometimes unpopular policies, many of which he said he would during his campaign. He is determined to deport all illegal immigrants (no proof of residence) back to their original countries and there are an estimated 11 million in the USA. He may send back 3 or 4 million during his four years as President.
He wants to cut down the bureaucracy of the Federal Government and eliminate certain agencies and departments. He will extend the tax cut for millionaires. He already started tariff on Chinese imports and imports of steel and aluminum from all countries. The USA will be under his leadership for the next four years, which may impact both domestic and international policies differently.
Trump will do five things he said he would do.
1. Trump will try to get even with those who charged and tried to charge him with criminal and civil violations — those in government and outside the government
2. He will try to stop illegal border crossing and try to send back as many illegal immigrants, those who illegally entered through the border with no documents, those who entered and applied for asylum, those who entered through a visiting H1, R1 or any such temporary visa and their visa is expired and criminals who are not US citizens.
3. Trump will impose tariffs on imports on selected items that can be manufactured in US or with some countries like China, 10 percent blanket tariffs. The USA makes a lot of income, but there will be reciprocal tariffs by other countries on US products.
4. Terminate at least 10 percent of the 2 million federal employees through the voluntary retirement program, termination of provincial (not permanent) employees and close down some federal agencies. The person in charge of this is Elon Mask, the world’s richest man, now a special employee in the White House without a salary in charge of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), not an official US Department.
5. Under the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement, American Foreign Policy is based on America First Policy. Previous collaborations in the UN, NATO or any other international agreements that the US signed may not be respected. The US already cancelled its membership of WHO and withdrew from the Global Climate Change group.
