Satheesan meets PM Modi after UDF's decisive comeback

KERALAM Chief Minister VD Satheesan met Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the first time since assuming office, marking a significant moment post the Congress-led United Democratic Front's return to power.

The meeting, highlighted by Satheesan's gift of a Kathakali dancer statue, underscored the region's rich cultural heritage.

This engagement follows the UDF's resounding victory in the state elections, ending a decade-long hiatus from governance. Satheesan, inaugurated as Keralam's 13th Chief Minister on May 18, was sworn in alongside 20 ministers, many of whom are new faces in politics.

Aligning with the UDF's clear electoral mandate, the new government seeks to prioritise infrastructure, investment, and employment generation, addressing pressing state needs.

Key portfolio assignments have been made, with Satheesan retaining influential departments like finance and law, while other strategic areas are led by notable Congress figures.
