Houthis hail operation as they take over Red Sea coastline

Al Jazeera update

YAHYA Saree, military spokesperson for the Houthis, says they have expelled Saudi-backed forces from six districts and that maritime navigation remains safe for all companies except Saudi ships.

After seizing the crucial city of Mocha, the Houthis have taken control of Yemen’s entire Red Sea coastline, expanding their grip over the strategic Bab al-Mandeb strait, one of the world’s most important trade routes.

Saudi military forces have carried out two air strikes on Mocha’s airport, according to the Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah channel. Six missiles are also reported to have hit the city’s port.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says its navy struck a US "saildrone-type" unmanned vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, “thwarting its aggressive mission."

At least one person has been killed and nine injured in an Israeli attack on al-Mawasi, Khan Younis, in southern Gaza.
