THE world's tallest bridge is reaching new heights.

Seven months after opening, the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge has made the list of TIME Magazine's 100 "greatest places of 2026."

Towering 2,050 feet above the Beipan River in southeast China, the bridge cuts commuters’ travel time over the canyon from two hours to just two minutes. It officially opened to the public in September 2025.

The bridge also serves as a tourist attraction and economic engine for the region. There's a coffee shop hovering approximately 2,600 feet above the river, a glass walkway where visitors can look down into the canyon, and a high-speed elevator up to the lookout point where you can take in the panoramic views. Brave visitors can even try bungee jumping on the bridge.

At 4,600 feet in length, it also breaks the record for the world’s longest bridge in a mountainous region, according to NBC News. The bridge took the “world’s tallest” record from another bridge in the China's Guizhou province, the Beipanjiang Bridge, which crosses over the same river at a different point.

The Royal Gorge Bridge in Southern Colorado currently holds the title of the United States' highest bridge, coming in at 956 feet above the Arkansas River, according to its official website.

That bridge was built in seven months and opened in 1929. It previously held the record for the world’s highest bridge until 2001.

Other destinations on TIME's list include Reefline, an underwater sculpture park, snorkel trail, and hybrid reef located just in Miami; and Six Flags Qiddiya in Qiddiya City, Saudi Arabia, which boats the tallest, fastest, and longest roller coaster in the world.
