Traffic diversions at Palarivattom for a month from Thursday
MOTORISTS travelling through Palarivattom in Kochi will have to follow temporary traffic diversions for one month from Thursday, November 5, in connection with the second phase of the Kochi Metro expansion project.
The restrictions are being introduced to facilitate piling work near St Martin's Church at Palarivattom. As part of the arrangements, the road stretch between Sree Narayana Junction (SN Junction) and St Martin's Church will be temporarily closed to traffic.
Vehicles travelling from Edappally towards Kaloor will have to take a diversion at SN Junction and proceed towards Palarivattom Junction. From there, motorists should take a right turn to reach Kaloor.
The Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) authorities and the Assistant Commissioner of Kochi City Police jointly inspected the location before finalising the traffic arrangements.
Preparatory work for the temporary road closure is being undertaken on Wednesday, November 4. The diversion will initially be implemented on a trial basis from Thursday, before continuing for a month.
The restrictions are expected to affect commuters using the busy Edappally–Palarivattom–Kaloor corridor. Motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and follow the temporary traffic instructions.
KMRL has requested the public to cooperate with the traffic arrangements during the construction period.
