A legend in homoeopathic medicine passes away

DR Korah Jacob Thazhathu pioneered the practice and teaching of homoeopathic medicine. For over six decades, he combined quality, compassion and affordable medical care for everyone in Kottayam and surrounding areas.

The older generation in Kottayam fondly remembers his quick diagnosis and effective medical treatment. He was the only paediatric homoeopathic specialist of his generation.

Dr Korah carried forward his father's legacy, Dr T C Korah, who established one of the earliest major homoeopathic practices in Kerala in the mid-1900s.

Dr Korah's influence extended well beyond his medical practice. His various leadership positions, including vice principal of NSS Homoeo Medical College in Kottayam, Kerala State Homoeopathy Advisory Committee member, faculty member, Postgraduate Education Guide and Mahatma Gandhi University Board of Studies member, are testaments to his dedication and contribution to the advancement of homoeopathic medicine.

His tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to homoeopathic practice continue to inspire the medical community.

As a lifelong member of the Mar Thoma community, Dr Korah was a true representative of his mother church, the Kottayam St Thomas Mar Thoma Church. His various leadership roles were a testament to his unwavering dedication and service to his community. Unfailingly loyal and courteous, he was steadfast in his principles and family values, earning the respect and admiration of all who knew him.

Dr Korah Jacob passed away on 16 June at his home in Kottayam. He will be laid to rest on Wednesday, June 19.
