KAAMYA Karthikeyan, a 17-year-old from Navy Children School, Mumbai, has etched her name in history as the youngest female in the world to conquer the Seven Summits — the highest peaks on each continent.
She completed the remarkable challenge on the 24th of December, 2024, reaching the summit of Antarctica’s Mt Vinson alongside her father, Commander S. Karthikeyan of the Indian Navy.
Her journey includes summiting Mt Kilimanjaro in Africa, Mt Elbrus in Europe, Mt Kosciuszko in Australia, Mt Aconcagua in South America, Mt Denali in North America, and Mt Everest in Asia. Earlier this year, Kaamya became the youngest Indian to climb Mt Everest from the Nepal side at just 16!
Kaamya’s outstanding achievements have earned her the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Shakti Puraskar, India’s highest national honour for young achievers.
The Indian Navy lauded Kaamya and her father for their monumental accomplishment, calling it a testament to determination and teamwork. With this feat, Kaamya solidifies her place as a global icon in the world of mountaineering.
